Sarah Kaiser

Sarah (Sally) T. Kaiser, 88, of Highpointe Drive in Troy, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center's Hospice after a long illness.

Sarah Teresa was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on March 23, 1927. The daughter of John and Kathleen McMahon, Sarah immigrated with her family to the United States in 1930 and became an American citizen. She grew up in Whitestone in the Borough of Queens, NY and was a graduate of Bayside Central High School, class of 1945. In 1954 she moved to Center Brunswick, NY and later moved to Lansingburgh, NY in 1964. She was a retired medical secretary, working at the "old" Leonard Hospital, and then at Seton Hall in Troy, NY. She and her late husband Alfred were the proprietors of Parkview Cottages in Lake George NY from 1974-1986. She also served as an officer with Seton Auxiliary, Inc. and volunteered for many dedicated years at St. Mary's Hospital.

Sarah was a devoted parishioner of St. Augustine Church and a member of the church choir for many years. She also sang with Musical Arts in Troy and Singers For Enjoyment in Latham. She enjoyed camping with her family, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Travel became a passion for her and she traveled all over the world and the United States. Always the life of the party, she had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Most of all she loved her family, and imparted in them the gift of music and laughter, a love of life, a deep faith in our Lord, and a sense of adventure in seeing the world and all of its God-given beauty.

Ireland was very much a part of Sarah and she was very proud of her Irish heritage. Having returned to her birth country on several occasions, she was able to reconnect with family and friends from "the other side." Most times you could see Sarah proudly wearing green in the form of a new Irish sweater, scarf, or jacket. Shamrocks are in full display in her home and St. Patrick's Day was her joy.

Sarah is survived by her loving children, Nicholas (Lori) Kaiser of Troy, NY, Joseph (Marybeth) Kaiser of Saratoga Springs, NY, John (Angelique) Kaiser of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kathleen (Peter) Regan of Hopkinton, MA, and Michael (Renee) Kaiser of Germantown, MD. She is the cherished grandmother of Jude (Amy), Matthew, Danielle, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Sarah, JAK, Jason, Nathan, Alicia Gardner, Liam, Sean, Maureen, and James, and the honored great-grandmother of Morgan and Ryan. She is also survived by her brother John (Lorraine) McMahon of College Point, NY and her sister Maureen (Henry) Seiler of Hockessin, DE as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, friends and work colleagues.

In addition to her parents, Sarah is predeceased by her beloved husband of five years, Nicholas F. Herrick of Whitestone, NY, her beloved husband of thirty seven years, Alfred J. Kaiser of Troy, NY, her sister Kathleen Devine of NYC, and her two grandchildren, Brianna and Aiden.

Sarah's family would like to thank Carol of Home Instead Senior Care, Kathy and Linda of Interim Health Care, and the staff at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center for the care and support they provided to our mother and our family during her long illness.
