Thomas P. Blake Jr, 79 retired Troy Police Officer, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Troy, he was the son of the late Thomas P. Blake Sr and Marjorie Anselment Blake, Thomas was the loving husband of 52 years to the late Margaret Fleming Blake, and she passed away 7 months prior on May 30, 2016.
Thomas graduated from Troy High School, class of 1955, he served in the United States Navy on the USS Essex receiving the Good Conduct Medal.
He worked for the Troy Police Department for 42 years, receiving the Chief John Givney Award in 1997 and retired in 2003 as an investigator also past president of the PBA.
He is survived by his three loving sons Thomas P. Blake III (TFD) (Lisa), James S. Blake (Michele) and William J. Blake (TFD) all of Troy, four grandchildren Thomas P. Blake IV (TFD), Ashlen T. Blake, James S. Blake II and Mihaly A. Blake all of Troy, sister Carol Clark ( late Kenneth).
Thomas was predeceased by his mother and father, his wife Margaret, sister Nancy Blake Doggett and nephew Patrick Doggett.
Funeral service will be held 9:30 am on Saturday January 14, 2017 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday January 13, 2017 at the funeral home.
