W. Gibson

W. Warren Gibson, 85, formerly of Third Avenue, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at Evergreen Commons.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late William M. Gibson and Clara Belle Van Valkenburg Gibson.

Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of Troy High School and SUNY Albany formerly Albany Teachers College, he also was a graduate of Troy Conservatory Music School. Warren served in the United States Army as a radio operator. He was a teacher at Troy High School for 32 years. He was a dedicated, competent educator who focused on each child as an individual. Kind, affirming and approachable he placed his students as his top priority.

He was a member of the former United Methodist of Lansingburgh, now Cornerstone Community Church, where he was the organist and choir director.

He is survived by John and Jennifer Gorman, Rhiannon Gorman and Liam Gorman all of Troy.

Funeral services will be 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 10:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh, with Pastor E. Allen Siebold officiating.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
