Troy-William P. Conley, Jr., 81, passed away on March 23, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born on April 13, 1940, he was the son to the late William P. Conley and Genevieve Mohan Conley and the loving husband of 57 years to Ann Marie Evers Conley.
William, (affectionately known as Bill, Willie, and “Spinner” from his NIMO days), graduated from Mechanicville High School, class of 1958; he also attended Hudson Valley Community College. He served honorably for 4 years in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962.
Bill met the love of his life at a friend’s wedding in 1962; and a year and a half later on May 9, 1964, Miss Ann Marie Evers became Mrs. William P. Conley.
He retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. after 31 years in November 1999; he also worked at West Virginia Pulp & Paper Co., Ford Motor Co., Behr Manning Abrasives and Troy Record Newspaper.
Bill was a member of the Lansingburgh Vets Club, Troy Elks, American Legion #1450, Knights of Columbus #237 Waterford Council, and the Waterford Seniors.
Bill could always put a smile on the face of people he met. He loved spending time with his wife and their family, cooking and baking, writing poetry, telling hundreds of retained jokes, and hearing the laughter. Bill loved his faith and Catholic Religion, playing golf, playing cards, fishing and reading (especially in his favorite room); but most of all, God granted him the years to share his life with the woman he loved since day one, and of course to celebrate his Irish Heritage.
In addition to his wife Ann Marie, he is survived by his children Christine (Brian) Fox, Kevin (Denise) Conley and Colleen Conley, his grandchildren David (Shawna) Fox, Tegan Fox, Matthew Fox, Claire Coles, Mollie Coles, Hayden Conley and Stella Conley, his great grandson Luke Fox, and his sister-in-law Joan (Don) Bills. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
Bill was predeceased by his siblings Patricia (Frank) Canavan, John Conley, Kathleen (Louis) Peluso, Margaret (Joseph) Coleman, Sheila (Ed) Ronda, Molly Conley, and his infant twin brothers.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday March 31, 2022 at St. Augustine’s Church 25 115th Street, Troy. Burial will follow with military honors at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday March 30, 2022 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to St. Augustine’s Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or a charity of one’s choice.
