Troy-Ceola Canty, 91, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2021 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, NY. Born on December 3, 1929 in Williamsburg County, SC., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Macky Felix and Emma McDonald Felix Brown and was the beloved wife of the late Sylvester Canty, Sr. She leaves behind her loving children: Theola Canty (Don), Ida Snavley (Larry), Sylvester Canty, Jr. (Delores), Anthony Canty, Tracy Canty, Adolphus Canty (Sophia), her sister Carrie Prince, as well as many grandchildren, great-children, other relatives and friends. She was a devoted mother and wife.
Ceola retired in 1990 from the New York State Department of Health as a Colony Supervisor overseeing the activities of adults with developmental disabilities.
She loved canning, cooking, gardening, reading and sewing, and could often be seen exhibiting random acts of kindness.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Troy, NY, a senior member of the choir, and dedicated support to Bethel’s Mission Ministries. She was also a life-member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday August 4, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 5th Avenue, Troy NY, 12180. Services will immediately follow at 12:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
