Dorothy L. Litherland, 82, passed away after a brief illness on February 11, 2021 with her family by her side. Born November 1, 1938, in Whitehall, New York, her family later moved to Lansingburgh, New York. She was the daughter of Edward J. Loucks and Helen Hughes.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Christian (Robert), son, Raymond E. McCabe, grandson, Sean T. Landrigan, step daughter, Beth Litherland, brothers, E. John and Hal Loucks, sister, Alicia Nelson, and several cherished nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, John T. Litherland, brothers, George and Robert Loucks, and sisters, Polly Lyons and Dema Martin.
Dorothy was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School. She embarked on a 30+ year career with the NY Telephone Company.
Dorothy and John loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. They enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and took many cruises together.
She was a devoted church member, spending many years as a Sunday school teacher, and later as a Deacon of the Cornerstone Community Church.
Dorothy was a very loving, giving person to all. She was passionately involved with the Rebekah’s of New York, serving them well past her commitment, traveling far and long for the organization.
Dorothy was a football enthusiast. With Patti and Raymond, she thoroughly enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
John and Dorothy were blessed with 29 years of marital bliss along their very own yellow brick road and now will spend eternity together, over the rainbow.
Family and friends are invited and may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday February 18, 2021 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm on Thursday at Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh, 570 3rd Avenue, Lansingburgh. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy. Please note that social distancing, masks and occupancy limitations in funeral home and church are required.
