Troy- Nathaniel Alcid Bruce Sr. passed away on October 2, 2020 surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Troy, NY on June 28, 1943, the son of the late Dolores Evelyn (VanValkenburg) Bruce and the late William Casey (“The Wrangler”). At Heaven’s gates he will be reunited with his loving wife of 45 years, the late Mildred H. Bruce.
Nathaniel was the patriarch of a large, loving family whom his world revolved around. Nathaniel is survived by his children Bryan (Kasey) Bruce Sr. of Poestenkill, Douglas Derepentigny of Mechanicville, Theresa (Ira) Saddlemire of Glens Falls, Joseph (Kathy) Pratt of Averill Park, Annie (John) Pratt of Green Island, Nathaniel (Jodi) Bruce Jr. of Hoosick Falls, Carlotta Bruce Fogarty of Malta, Tina (Rich) Bruce of Colonie, Tonya (Tony) Hill of Queensbury, Dorothy Pratt of Brunswick, Dolores (“Dee Dee”) Bruce of Troy, Wanita Bruce of Troy, Andre (Amanda) Bruce of Troy, Joseph Pratt of Troy, Amanda Taylor of Watervliet, Christopher Taylor of Troy, predeceased by Anthony Delair and Melissa Bruce.
Nathaniel (“Poppy”) is also survived by his 47 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren that were his pride and joy.
Nathaniel is survived by his brother Kenneth Bruce Sr. of Watervliet, his loving sister-in-law Sandy (Gerald) Bruce of Wynantskill, and his cousin/best friend Gally Langdon of Clifton Park. Nathaniel is predeceased by his brother Gerald Bruce Sr. Nathaniel is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews including his godson Gerald Bruce Jr. of Troy.
Nathaniel loved fishing with his sons, and camping with his children. He enjoyed playing the numbers and the horses. As a child, he was an altar boy at St. Joseph’s church. As a young man, he enjoyed his 57 Chevy and drag racing. He loved garage sales and flea markets. Nathaniel was fond of listening to his music, and dancing and singing with his friends and family.
Most of all, Nate loved his family and they loved him. To Nathaniel, everyone was family. He welcomed everyone with open arms - making sure they were fed and safe. Nathaniel was loved by many, and will be missed by all.
